Behaviour support

This service provides calm, structured support for dogs experiencing ongoing emotional or behavioural difficulties – and for owners who want thoughtful guidance throughout the process.

All behaviour support is provided using reward-based methods. My focus is on understanding why your dog is behaving the way they are and helping you build the skills and confidence needed for long-term success

This service is suitable for dogs experiencing challenges such as:

  • Reactivity towards people, dogs, or the environment
  • Fear, anxiety and confidence issues
  • Resource guarding
  • Difficulties with visitors
  • Separation-related behaviours
  • Barking and over-arousal
  • Other behaviour concerns affecting daily life

1. Information gathering
Before we meet, we arrange a telephone call where we go through your dog’s behaviour history in detail and discuss your concerns. This means I can gather all the relevant background information about your dog’s daily life and current challenges before our session.

2. Assessment and first steps
During our first in-person session (usually at your home), I’ll observe your dog’s behaviour, identify the factors influencing it and begin putting practical management and training strategies in place. We’ll focus on the most important first steps, giving you clarity and confidence while I develop your longer-term action plan.

3. Tailored action plan
Following our first in-person session, I’ll send you a personalised action plan, outlining the practical next steps for you and your dog. The aim is to give you a clear direction between sessions.

You’ll also have access to email support throughout the programme, so you can ask questions, share progress and feel reassured you’re moving in the right direction.

We got Zac, our rescue lurcher, knowing he would be a challenge. Scared of everything, unable to even pee standing still – Kim helped us to help him navigate this scary world. He was over whelming: resource guarding, as well as reactivity and separation anxiety, but with Kim’s help we took small steps. She realised that we and Zac could only cope with so much training at a time. She gave us loads of support, resources and encouragement. Two years later, whilst he is by no means perfect, he doesn’t lunge at everything he sees, can sniff and pee like a normal dog, can be left for a couple of hours – and he even does a bit of parkour on his walks. Thank you Kim xx.

– Annie and Zac

Behaviour problems are rarely solved in a single session. Most dogs make the best progress when owners have support as they put training into practice and navigate challenges along the way.

That’s why the Behaviour Support Package is the standard starting point for all new behaviour clients.

Travel costs: For clients outside my local area, a travel charge applies to cover travel time and costs. This is charged at a flat rate per session and will always be confirmed in advance.
