Adolescent dog training for all breeds – from 5 months to 2 years
Adolescence is a normal — and often frustrating — stage of development. You haven’t gone backwards, and you certainly haven’t ‘lost’ your dog. Their brain is simply under construction, and the behaviours they rehearse now shape the adult dog they will become. This course helps you guide them through this phase with confidence, structure and support.
Over 5 weeks we’ll work on real-life skills that make day-to-day life easier and rebuild that bond between you. You’ll also gain a solid, friendly understanding of what’s happening in your dog’s body and brain, so the chaos makes more sense — and feels manageable.
What we’ll cover:
Practical, everyday skills for life with a teenage dog, including:
• Recall around distractions
• Loose-lead walking
• Better focus and engagement
• Impulse control and making sensible choices
• Calmness and settling
• Teaching boundaries without stress
• Managing walks so they’re enjoyable for both ends of the lead
Is this course right for your dog?
This class is suitable for most adolescent dogs aged from 5 months to around 2 years, including large breeds who mature more slowly. If your dog needs extra support or would be more comfortable in a quieter environment, I’ll recommend a one-to-one option instead — it’s all about setting them up for success.
Class format
- Small, supportive classes (maximum 6 dogs)
- A mixture of indoor and outdoor training (weather dependent)
- Reward-based, fear-free methods
- Run by a certified trainer and qualified veterinary nurse
Help your dog become their best adult self.
